Lúpulus is an organic semi-cured cow's cheese washed with beer that Formatges Muntanyola makes in its workshop on the Urpina estate in Sant Salvador de Guardiola, using an artisan process. Using cow's milk from a livestock farm with organic production and certification, this cheese is matured slowly for two months, where the yeasts stimulate the development of the ferments, providing creaminess, with a fine, tender texture and a balanced flavour. Lupulus conquers through a well-balanced flavor and a slight bitterness. In the mouth, you will experience a full-bodied taste of cereal with a surprise of the typical flavor of long-matured cheeses. It is one of the first beer-ripened cheeses to be made in Spain, inspired by ancestral recipes originating in Belgium.
The milk used in the artisanal preparation of this cow’s cheese comes from an organic production farm. This cow’s milk is certified organic by the Catalan Council of Organic Agricultural Production. Muntanyola opts for producing high-quality gourmet cheeses, selecting producers committed to milk quality, animal welfare, organic farming or local consumption.
